Students carry out four internships in companies (average total length 14 months) including a compulsory long internship abroad.
Internships to learn, discover and mature.
Students must spend a long period of training, in a firm, in Western or Eastern Europe, in North America or South America, or in S.E. Asia.
Objective : to discover a variety of professional worlds, and different technical aspects.
Each student is allowed to organise his own programme of internships in three different companies to achieve the following four objectives :
1. Apply the acquired knowledge in the industrial context
2. Discover social relationships in a company
3. Become aware of economic and cultural aspects of a company
4. Use the experience to build up the student’s future career
One month minimum, before starting the engineering cycle, between end of June to end of August.
After the first year of the engineering cycle ; four months in France or abroad, from June to September .
One month at the end of the second year, between end of June and end of August .
The student writes a report, describing not only the technical part of his work but also the cultural and organisational aspects within the company. An interview with an examiner from the professional world will give an analysis of this experience and determine choices for future placements.
A feedback session is organised with other students and monitoring of placements is recorded in the student’s professional portfolio.
5 months in France or abroad, in an industrial context, for students in the 3rd year.
The Final Year Research Project is a means for the student to practise his future job as an engineer. It is possible to carry out the internship at the beginning of the 3rd year, from September to January, and even extending the summer placement , or during the 2nd semester, from February to June.
The student should be capable of working autonomously together with the capacity of working effectively in a team in order to accomplish a scientific, technical or organisational project.
A written report and oral presentation at ECAM in front of a jury composed of industrialists and ECAM lecturers.
ECAM lecturers monitor the technical and scientific work, together with the company supervisor . Some Research Projects may even give rise to research contracts between the company and an ECAM laboratory.
