Small firms and large groups can take advantage of the skills and facilities offered by the R&D laboratories of ECAM. There are 25 engineering researchers in 5 laboratories carrying out work in its specialisation under contract with partner companies.

Services

Companies are often faced with problems covering a range of engineering skills. The 5 ECAM laboratories collaborate among themselves, under the leadership of the industrial relations service, in order to provide the best solutions.

These services may be simple expert contributions, measurements and calculations or much longer research programmes lasting several years.

The engineering students are involved in R&D projects Research and Development Projects (PRD).(direct link with corresponding section -lower down)

• Heat transfer and loss in mechanical transmissions :

 Research and Development Projects

 Every semester, fifty student engineers and research teaching staff at the school are entrusted with about twenty industrial projects.

 ECAM laboratories, teaching staff and students,in the final year (ECAM 5) working for companies

• Periods : September to January and February to June
• Cost : according to the nature of the project and customer specifications
• Monitoring : the teaching staff follow the research, maintain contact with the company, and ensure evolution and long-term continuity of the project.
• Financing : the usual subsidies are available for these services (especially for small firms)

 

Following the requirements of the company, an estimate is prepared, which takes into account :

• the technical means necessary,
• the department and lecturer in charge
• the length of the study, a provisional schedule is set up
• the presentation of results
• the cost, possible subsidies

Upon acceptance by the company, the study is entrusted to a lecturer and two students who will work for a semester , two days a week ( 500 hours of work per student). Regular technical meetings allow the company to follow the progress of the study up to it final presentation.
