The ECAM spirit: an education based on strong values.

For more than a century, the ECAM SPIRIT has grown in strength, year after year, out of the basic values of the school. These values are supported by the lecturers, the students, the engineers now in activity, the heads and the Foundation, which is a recognised non-profit making association.

This ECAM identity begins in the Preparatory Classes and continues to develop throughout the 5 years of training thanks to the quality of the teaching and the values communicated.

The ECAM Spirit means guiding and assisting the students, step by step, to bring them to the status of an engineer.

Pedagogical values at the heart of our training :

• Welcoming and guiding the student-engineers, whatever their origin.
• Autonomy and personal judgement, specific skills which are strongly developed during the training.
• Training in science and techniques, theory and practice in equal proportions.

The results of this teaching have proved successful and feedback from industry has confirmed this.
The ECAM engineer is recognised not only for his scientific ability but also for his innovative skills and qualities of leadership and human relations.

Scientific studies covering a range of disciplines was a firm choice of the school. This is clear throughout the 5 years of training and the work and coordination of each department demonstrates this.

Individual Guidance

According to school ethics, each student is considered as a unique human being, capable of adapting to the group. Examinations, small-group projects, or work in pairs ; everything is done to encourage the personal development of each student and his integration within the year group.

ECAM values the powers of listening and awareness of others. The students are encouraged and assisted in their personal commitments or through activities for the community.

 A family spirit : active and forward-looking …

With more than 6000 engineers trained since the founding of the school, solidarity and a feeling of belonging to the family of ECAM engineers is transmitted from one year group to the next. 

Godfathers, godmothers and godchildren
The link between ECAM engineers and the new student-engineers is ensured by a system of “godparents”. In each year group an individual student has the responsibility of a student in a year group below to help and advise their “godchild”.

ECAM engineers are encouraged to pass on their know-how and experience to student engineers. Conferences and debates, days to meet « godparents » are organised to ensure this transmission.

Evolution and adaptation to the economic world.

ECAM engineers are at the heart of new technologies. Since the graduation of the first 9 engineers in 1903, ECAM has adapted its teaching to anticipate the evolutions in the economic world around us to become a leading engineering school.

A constant motivation of the school is to be at the leading edge of scientific innovations.
