From the first day, students learn not only to be engineers, but to be active participants in the society. A preparatory program makes up the first two years of the Arts et Métiers general program and allows students to be admitted into the core engineering program based on continual assessment.
Sciences fill up the majority of classes, but humanities, languages, and communication are heavily present throughout the program.
The workload is heavy. Students progressively learn to organize themselves, plan projects over an extended period of time, and use logic and reasoning.
Students will not get lost in huge lecture halls as all classes are given in small groups like what they are used to in high school. Each subject area has one professor, and students benefit from personalized assistance and proximity of available faculty members for better understanding.
Common Cross-Disciplinary Core
Active Teaching, with industries
Advanced classes, international mobility, double degrees, and research are just some of the ways that every engineering student can benefit from personalized guidance to create their own academic and professional project, beyond the common general engineering core.
Students who want to cultivate their international experience and background can participate in a double degree program with one of ECAM Lyon’s many international partner universities.
ECAM Lyon students can strengthen their management knowledge through double degree programs.
During their last year, students can take a semester of classes and projects at ECAM Lyon, followed by a semester at IAE de Lyon and end the year with their final engineering internship (5 months minimum) that allows them to apply their two fields of studies. By extending their studies by 6 months, students can graduate with a ECAM Arts et Métiers degree and a Master’s in management from IAE de Lyon.
Students can specialize in one of three fields:
ECAM Lyon students can take an extra year of studies dedicated to business administration and management and graduate with a degree from ECAM Lyon and ESSCA. Students can apply to the ESSCA double degree program after their 4th year at ECAM Lyon, and if accepted take two semesters of Master’s classes at ESSCA and complete an internship and a Master’s thesis.
This Course Description will provide the reader with a detailed overview of the General Engineering program.
