On September 27, 2018, ECAM Lyon’s new dining center, the Cafétéria Horizon, was inaugurated with the presence of Thomas Rudigoz, First Rhône District MP, Pierre Bérat, Regional Higher Education and Research Comission President and Councilmember, and Bertrand Jabouley De Bec, Deputy-mayor for Lyon’s 5th District.
Since the closing of the nearby Resto’U André Allix in 2016, ECAM Lyon did not have access to a sufficient dining center for its 1,500 students. As ECAM Lyon enrolls young students who are far from their families and culture for the first time, the campus has to become their new home. This made having an on-campus dining center necessary.
Besides ECAM Lyon students, other students in higher education on the Fourvière hill are able to take advantage of the new nearby dining hall.
Support from the Region and Crous
ECAM graduates went into action and their donations were able to kick-start the project. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region quickly decided to help finance the construction. The Crous de Lyon also helped furnish the dining center and manages daily operations. Thanks to all these contributions, students have access to healthy meals and student prices.
At a Glance:
- 250 m² of dining and work space
- 150 seats for up to 500 meals per day
- An amazing terrace with an outstanding view of Lyon
- Different options (full meals, quick meals, snacks), all day
Since opening to students on September 3, the Cafétéria Horizon has been a resounding success.
