IPL International Summer School
The Summer School is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a truly international experience in a French Graduate School of Engineering, to learn or to improve French language skills while at the same time developing your knowledge in a scientific field.
Every summer since 2004, ECAM has offered an International Summer School program in Science and Engineering that brings together students from all over the world who are interested in the fields of electrical engineering, chemistry, agro science or materials science (plastics and textile composites).
The 10 previous sessions have brought together almost 270 students from all around the world and have given them the opportunity to discover France, Lyon and ECAM Lyon.
In addition, cultural visits and tours of companies and factories will be scheduled throughout the program to guarantee a very memorable stay in France!
What course does ECAM Lyon offer?
Participants will work on the topic of “Conversion of Energy”: solar cell, fuel cell energy, wind energy, nuclear reactor PWR, electrical grid, electrical to mechanical and reverse by electric motors. 45 hours of short conferences, lab work and group project sessions in English will be offered in this area of study.

How many credits can I earn?
You will earn 6 European Credits (ECTS), which you will be able to transfer back to your home university at the end of the course.
The students follow a course specifically designed for their needs, combining French as a foreign language classes (40 hrs), taught courses/practical work in English (45 hrs) in the engineering or scientific specializations of the IPL Schools.

Who is it for?
It is open to all foreign students who have completed their first or second year of an undergraduate degree in one of the areas of study taught at the 4 partner engineering schools that collaborate in the IPL program: ECAM Lyon, CPE Lyon, ISARA Lyon and ITECH. Students who take part in our program will study in one of these areas: electrical, chemistry, agro science, or materials (plastics, textile composites).
How much does it cost?
Do I need to speak French?
No, but you must be fluent in English. Engineering or science classes will be taught in English. All students take either beginner or intermediate level French language classes during the program.
Where will the program take place and where will I stay?
The Conversion of Energy course takes place at ECAM. French language classes are held at ISARA Lyon where you will be together will all IPL Summer School students. Students will be accommodated at B. Delessert Student Residence Hall near ISARA Lyon.
How much does it cost?
1,800 €, which includes all classes, 5-week accommodation at the residence hall, all organized visits and social events. The cost of meals, local transportation and weekend trips are not covered by the participation fees.
