PRESENTATION

The Bachelor’s degree in Renewable and Low-Carbon Energy trains professionals to meet the growing needs of the energy sector by equipping them with the skills required to help optimise energy systems. This programme enables students to develop technical skills in fields related to energy production, storage, transmission and the maintenance of energy systems. It provides an in-depth study of various sources of low-carbon and renewable energy that contribute to a low-carbon industry.

Skills developed:

  • Carry out an energy audit and provide technical solutions
  • Develop technical solutions for energy generation, distribution and storage
  • Install, operate and maintain energy systems whilst ensuring their performance
  • Implement an energy project and promote best practice in energy use

PROGRAMME

The programme includes role-play exercises and broadens students’ knowledge through real-world case studies. Students benefit from a balanced mix of theory and practice, enabling them to master current technologies and prepare for the energy challenges of the future. This three-year programme combines academic study, work experience and international immersion. The first two years are undertaken as full-time students, whilst the final year can be completed either as a work-study programme or as a full-time student.

Projects

The teaching approach combines theoretical instruction with practical application through project-based learning. It is through group projects and problem-based learning that students put the skills they have learnt into practice. Examples of technical projects:

  • Involvement in the thermal design of a reversible air-conditioning system for an electric vehicle
  • Contribution to the characterisation of the thermal behaviour of a fuel cell
  • Collaboration on the thermal modelling of a battery
  • Involvement in the energy optimisation of a solar power station
  • Technical implementation of district heating networks for vegetable greenhouses
